All submissions should apply to the otorhinolaryngology (ORL) nursing specialty including:
- Nursing Practice
- Case Studies
- Literature Reviews
- Quantitative, Qualitative, or Mixed Methods Research
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Quality Improvement
- Nursing Administration
- Leadership
- Technological Innovations
- Professional Development Issues
- Nursing or Patient Education
Additionally, the journal welcomes manuscripts and commentary for the journal’s columns, Highlights from the Hill, Media Review, Poetry Corner, Products in Nursing, and Hot Topics in ORL Nursing. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must be original manuscripts any prior presentation of the manuscript content must be disclosed.

All submissions are uploaded through Scholastica publishing site https://app.scholasticahq.com/login.
Authors must create an account to submit.
Equator Guidelines should be used in the development of feature articles https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/. Journal editor and reviewers will use the Equator guidelines in their assessment of each submission
A query letter is not required but can be emailed to the Editor at info@sohnnurse.com.
Manuscript Format
- Manuscripts must be submitted without any identifiers to allow for anonymous peer review.
- Manuscripts should be limited to a maximum of 6000 words.
- Abstract limited to 500 words and to be included into the total abstract word count.
- Include implications for ORL nursing either in the text or table.
- Submit copy of IRB as a supplemental when indicated.
- American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition for submission and references.
- All text should use Calibri font size 11 with 1.5 spacing between sentences.
- Title should use upper case only for the first letter of each word, not for the whole word.
Figures and Tables
- Need to communicate essential content and should not exceed five per manuscript.
- Font Calabri size 10 or larger
- All tables and figures need to be embedded into the manuscript where appropriate. Include copyright permissions if it is not the authors’ original work (upload as a supplement). Link to SOHN Photo Release Form
- Ensure Tables and Figures fits on a portrait layout with one-inch space on the page borders.
- Include a title heading on top of the table
- Use footnotes to describe any acronyms or provide special instructions.
- Make sure all words are legible and all abbreviations are identified.
Editorial and Peer Review Process
Upon receipt of a manuscript, the applicability of the paper to ORL nursing will be determined by the Editor. The manuscript is then circulated for blind peer review by a minimum of two reviewers with expertise in the submitted journal content. Authors will be informed of acceptance, rejection or accept with revision following peer and editor review. Accept with revision will include suggested recommendations and queries from reviewers that must be addressed prior to final acceptance. The editorial board is committed to working with authors to finalize the manuscript into a final accepted product. Formal acceptance which include timing for publication will be sent to the corresponding author by the Editor.
